Government Programme "Socio-Economic Development of Far East and Baikal Region" Approved

The next session of the Government Commission to address the issues of socio-economic development of the Far East, the Republic of Buryatia, Trans-Baikal and Irkutsk regions was held on April 2nd in Yakutsk under the chairmanship of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The session resulted in consideration and endorsement of the Government programme "Socio-economic development of the Far East and Baikal region until 2025."

The approved document envisages the formation of conditions for accelerated development of the Far East and Baikal region, its transformation into a competitive region with diversified economy as well as improvement of the socio-demographic situation on the territory of this macroregion.
The level of financing will reportedly exceed 10 trillion rubles in the form of budgetary financing, leveraging and private investments.
As regards the budget of special-purpose federal programmes, it will amount to at least 250bn rubles in 2014-2020.
